Celebrity Athletes with Asthma Join Forces with
the Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America – California Chapter & LAC+USC Medical Center
to host Star Studded 15th Anniversary Celebration of
Asthma Clinic on Wheels, known as The Breathmobile® Program
Los Angeles, CA - The Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA), California Chapter
and LAC+USC Medical Center will co-host a 15th Anniversary Breathmobile Celebration on
Friday, June 17, 2011 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at LAC+USC Medical Center located at 1200 N.
State Street, Los Angeles, CA. 90033. The USC Trojan Marching Band will kick-off the
event with a rousing performance to begin sharply at 1pm. The celebrity host for this
event is Ted Chen, distinguished reporter and news anchor from KNBC Channel 4 News.
Confirmed celebrity athletes (who happen to also have asthma) include Olympic Gold
Medalist Tyree Washington, NBA Star and New Orleans Hornets Power Forward Trevor Ariza,
Atlanta Falcons Running Back Chris Draft who will also serve as the Keynote Speaker.
Actress Ashley Scott, who has starred in films such as "Into the Blue",
"AI: Artificial Intelligence", "Walking Tall", in addition to television shows
including "Dark Angel" and "Jericho", will also serve as a speaker.
Yellow Dog Records recording artist, The Soul of John Black will serve as
the featured music performer for this event.
The Breathmobile® is an "asthma clinic on wheels", that provides free diagnosis,
treatment, medications and education for children with asthma at their school site.
The project was developed by the California Chapter of the Asthma & Allergy Foundation
of America to address the rising morbidity rates of asthma in high risk disadvantaged
children. Evaluation studies of the Breathmobile® have demonstrated dramatic improvement
for patients treated on the Breathmobile® including: fewer emergency room visits,
improved pulmonary function, a decrease in school absenteeism and an improved quality of life.
Additional ceremony speakers include Councilwoman Jan Perry, LAC+USC Healthcare Network CEO,
Pete Delgado, AAFA President Sharon Boucher, and Division Chief of Allergy & Immunology,
USC Medical Center, Lyne Scott, MD.
The Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America - California Chapter serves as the premiere
patient organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with asthma
and allergies and their caregivers through education, advocacy, and research.

NBA Superstar Trevor Ariza Invites Breathmobile to Celebrity Studded Asthma Awareness Event
Champion basketball player and veteran athlete Trevor Ariza of the New Orleans Hornets brought his self-named Trevor Ariza Foundation (TAF) to Los Angeles as host of the VIP gala held February 17, 2011 during All-Star weekend.

The sports themed benefit raised awareness for asthma and was held in conjunction
with the historic Feast of Flavors grand-opening celebration for the all new
Buffalo Wild Wings Bar and Grill in Baldwin Hills.
The event was hosted by basketball star Trevor Ariza and franchisees Edward Barnett
and Karim Webb. Celebrity guests included: Steve Harris ("Takers"), Supermodel Claudia
Jordan, Howard Hewitt (songwriter and musician), Lisa Leslie (Olympic and WNBA champ),
Julia Pace Mitchell (Young & The Restless), Saxman Mike Phillips, Vanessa Bell
Calloway (actress) and many more.
Physicians from the LAC+USC Breathmobile gave a brief asthma presentation at the event
and the Mattel Children's Hospital UCLA Breathmobile brought their mobile unit to the
event for guests to tour. A special thanks to James Anderson, driver of the UCLA
Breathmobile for bringing the unit to the event.

LAC+USC Medical Center Breathmobile Participates in EIB Active Campaign with Celebrity
Nanny Jo Frost.
The LAC+USC Medical Center Breathmobile will participate in a second stop
multi-city tour for EIB Active, a national health campaign started in 2010
to raise awareness about asthma and exercise induced bronchospasm at
St. Michael's Catholic School located at 1027 West 87th Street, Los Angeles, CA. 90044.

The EIB Active national health campaign started in 2010 to raise awareness about
asthma and exercise induced bronchospasm, or EIB, a breathing condition that is estimated
to affect some 30 million people in the United States. EIB is a treatable condition that
causes wheezing, coughing and chest tightness during or immediately following exercise or
physical activity. During the stop, celebrity nanny and parenting guru, Jo Frost, who
was diagnosed with both asthma and EIB at the age of five years, will visit the
school to speak with the families and school administrators about asthma and EIB, and
share her personal experience and triumph with effectively managing the condition and
leading a healthy and active life despite the diagnosis.

Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) Breathmobile will hold its annual
Air Power Games.
Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) Breathmobile will hold its annual
Air Power Games track and field day event for children with asthma on
Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Santa Ana College. The Air Power Games was designed
to give children with asthma and allergies a chance to compete in athletics and
learn how to excel despite their conditions. More than 80 children attended
last year's event and participated in events such as the 50 meter dash, softball
throw, obstacle course and high jump.
